Manna Dey was born on 01 May 1919 in Kolkata, his original name was Prabodh Chandra Dey. He was a Legendary great Indian Playback Singer, and create a great name in Indian Hindi Songs.
Manna Dey appeared in the “Film Tamanna 1942” to the song of “Upar Gagan Bishal” created by his fatherly uncle K.C. Dey and went ahead to record more than 4,000 songs from 1942 to 2013. The Government of India regarded him with the Padma Shri Award in 1971.
Further, Manna Dey got “Padma Bhushan” in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007. Manna Dey sang in all the major regional Indian languages, though primarily in Hindi and Bengali. This great Artist died on 24 October 2013 in Bangalore, India.
