Biography of the Sindhi Classical Music Singer Misri Faqeer
Misri Faqeer was born in 1929 in the Sakrand District Nawabashah village of Lakapur. He later moved to Sarhari, Tehsil Shahdadpur, District Sanghar Sindh, in 1959. In Qazi Ahmed, Sindh, and Piyaro Faqeer taught him music.
In the Mehfil of Makhdoom Talib ul Moula, Misqri Faqeer sang alongside Hussain Bux Khadim, Faqeer Abdul Ghafoor, and other vocalists. Misqri Faqeer was a master of the harmonium and the Yaktaro. He has also performed in open Mehfils.
He had to perform the poems and songs of Makhdoom Talib ul Moula in Hala Sindh. Sohnal Ja Seeganar, Ji Dilri Chor Chorai Wiya, and other outstanding songs were all original compositions by this famous classical musician in Sindhi Mousiqui.
Songs by Talib ul Moula and contemporary Sindhi poets Tajul Bawas, Alhaj Rahim Bux, Mulazim Serwari, and others have been performed by Misri Faqeer. Famous Sindhi music producer Ali Muhammad Chagla debuted Misri Faqeer on Radio Pakistan Karachi in 1952.
